Bay City Residents Recycle and Save Energy
On Saturday, September 6th BCELP and Consumers Energy converged at the Bay City Electric Light and Power parking lot and offered recycling services to the citizens of the Great Lakes Bay Region.
In the short span of three hours Bay City residents recycled a bucket of CFLs, hundreds of batteries, 11 refrigerators, 2 freezers, a trailer full of TVs, 10 room air conditioners, 26 dehumidifiers and half a truck load of electronic waste. For every qualifying appliance recycled residents were given a 60 Watt equivalent LED bulb and one LED nightlight. In addition to helping the environment by recycling properly, the event has saved an estimated amount of 25,949 Kilowatt hours of energy in Bay City! |
