Electric Vehicle Charging Station Installed at Bay City State Recreation Area
On Tuesday, October 14th, 2014, BCELP Staff
attended the grand opening of the first electric vehicle charging station
installed at a Michigan State Park. The charging station was installed by the
BCELP in conjunction with the Michigan Department of Natural
Resources and Adopt a Charger at the Bay City State Recreation Area.
The charging station, which uses 80 amp service capable of charging newer generation vehicles, will provide free power for customers thanks to Graff Chevrolet. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources hopes to have an electric vehicle charging station installed at State Parks throughout the I‐75 corridor. George Lauinger, manager of the Bay City State Recreation Area, is “so proud to be first.” BCELP staff is also proud that we are the very first electric utility to partner with a State Park. This is not the first electric vehicle charging station BCELP has installed in Bay City. In 2009, BCELP created and installed two electric vehicle charging stations Downtown, that are free to use by consumers. BCELP staff plans to install more charging stations in the City and hopes to promote electric vehicles in the process. |
